What Is In Your Money Bag? - By Pat Stanton
Do you have a money bag? The Bible tells us about the money bag that Jesus and the disciples had. Judas was the treasurer and supposedly took care of things (John 12:5,6; 13:29). I love the fact that our Lord expected his people to give to the poor and needy. He taught that we were to help fellow believers. "As we have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto those who are of the household of faith" (Galatians 6:10).
Our heart is always enlarged to a new capacity as we share with others. There is a great joy released within as we help someone else. Much of Christ's ministry was to the poor and needy. He was and is our prime example of how to live. His money bag was not only used to buy daily bread, but to always help the poor. His Father gave us great insight and instruction in Proverbs 14:21b, "But he who has mercy on the poor, happy is he."
Proverbs 19:17, "He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given." What is in your money bag? Is it all of your dreams and plans, or is there a provision for someone else? The Lord wants us to be sensitive to the needs around us. What is in your money bag?
