Steps to Love and Peace in Relationships - By Pat Stanton

Our relationships with others is a key to peace and life. This is the most important thing a Christian should strive for...peace and harmony in our relationships. In fact, our human relationships should be second only to our relationship with our Heavenly Father and His Son, Jesus.

In most cases there are steps we can incorporate to improve relationships, and we can exercise more faith to bring victory in this area. The following steps are given to aid you in finding wholeness and love in all your relationships and situations:

1. You must want to do something about strained relationships and situations. Romans 13:10, "Love worketh no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.." Romans 12:18, "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceable with all men."

2.  Start thinking on the good qualities in the other person's life. Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brethren, whatsover things are true - honest - just - pure - lovely - whatsoever things are of a good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Through a proper attitude, you can free others to be the person they were meant to be. Romans 12:10, "Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another.

3.  Forgive and ask the other person to forgive you; then begin praying for one another. Mark 11:25, "And when ye stand praying, forgive, if ye have aught against any; that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."  Matthew 5:23, 24, "Therefore if you bring your gift to the altar and there rememberest that thy brother hath ought against thee, leave there thy gift before the altar, and go thy way; first be reconciled to thy brother, and then come and offer thy gift.

4.  Be thankful for what you are learning and becoming. Psalm 34:1, "I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth."
