The Word Brings Peace - By Pat Stanton

Jesus came to the disciples after His death, burial, and resurrection, and He brought them peace. "And as they thus spake, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you" (Luke 24:36).

The Word gives much guidance pertaining to our emotional and mental well-being. Often, I find that our attitudes must receive healing by the Spirit of God. We need to develop and cultivate the attitude of God's dependable love.

Many people cannot trust God as a loving Father because of hurtful experiences with their earthly father. These people need to receive God's inner healing and peace to touch the neglected and wounded areas inside the heart. As God mends all brokeness, then a new attitude of trust begins to grow and mature.

Psalm 147:3 states that Jesus came to heal the brokenhearted and to bind up their wounds. Romans 8:15 states that we can freely receive God as Father because we have been released from a "bondage to fear". As we are freed to be children in God's family, we can easily become so close, that we say, "Abba Father", which actually means, "Daddy". "For ye have not received the spirit of bondage, again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God."
