The Bible stresses that there are many things we can do to keep our spiritual and mental sanity. We're told that "presumption" brings strife; when the scorner is put out, the strife ceases. When negative talking stops, the strife always ceases.

If we don't know how to control our thinking, we will begin to suspect that someone is doing something behind our backs, or we might believe that a friend meant something evil towards us when they really didn't. Often times, parents presume that their children are getting into trouble when they aren't.

I must remind you of a powerful, liberating verse in 2 Timothy 1:7 which says, "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." If we can train ourselves to always recognize where fear is coming from, then we will be able to cast fear aside through the name of Jesus Christ, and begin to confess (say) that God has given us love, power, and a sound mind.

The Word of God says we can have mental health if we follow the principles that the Lord gave for our well-being. We must heed the words of Christ:

*  "If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men" (Romans 12:18).

*  "Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good" (Romans 12:21).

*  "Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath" (Ephesians 4:26).

*  "Neither give place to the devil" (Ephesians 4:27).

*  "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers" (Ephesians 4:29).

*  "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice" (Ephesians 4:31).

*  "And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you" (Ephesians 4:32).

On Mother's Day, May 8th, 2005, my mother, Sue Campbell, went to be with the Lord. She was 89 years of age and had enjoyed a happy and fruitful life. Many have said, "I am so sorry that she had to die on Mother's Day." My granddaugher, who was only ten years old at the time said, "It's alright because she was the grandest mother of all!"

Mother graduated from college when she had four children. She served as a pastor's wife for 50 years and helped countless couples and women to find a strong faith in the Lord. People were drawn to her by her magnetic smile and the joy of the Lord that filled her life.

When Mother was eleven years of age, Jesus appeared to her in a vision as she made a public declaration to receive the Lord into her heart. This life changing experience happened to Mother in her little country church. From that moment on, she never turned away from the One who gave her new life!
