Trusting in Him - Part 2, By Pat Stanton

How do you trust in the Lord when you do not know where you are going?

How do you trust in the Lord when you do not know where you are going?  This is an age old question that even Abraham was faced with.  "It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance.  He went without knowing where he was going" (Hebrews 11:8).

Abraham started walking forward with faith in his heart.  He did not know what the end result would be, but he did know God and his knowledge of the Lord increased.

As Abraham journeyed he built altars and called on the name of the Lord.  He realized that he was not sufficient within himself.  The Apostle Paul in the New Testament gives us this truth.  "Not that we are sufficient of ourselves to think of anything as being from ourselves but our sufficiency is from God" (2 Corinthians 3:5).

We are also reminded of John 15:5 " I am the vine, you are the branches.  He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."  How do you grow in your trust and faith?  We must keep looking unto Jesus who is the author and finisher of our faith.  He desires that we have growth in our mental and moral character. He wants to perfect all that concerns our life.  Let us continue to look to the word of God.  "...faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God" (Romans 10:17).Â
