How Can You Seek the Lord? - By Pat Stanton

The Bible gives many stories of men and women who took the time to seek the Lord.

The Bible gives many stories of men and women who took the time to seek the Lord.  There is a fascinating story in 2 Chronicles 20:1-22.  When King Jehoshaphat heard that a great multitude was coming against him, he set himself to seek the Lord.

He faced a seemingly impossible circumstance in a way that should encourage all Christians.  He set himself to seek the Lord and proclaimed a fast throughout all of Judah.  "So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord; and from all the citites of Judah they came to seek the Lord" (2 Chronicles 20:4).  I like the pattern that King Jehoshaphat used as he sought the Lord.

1.  He determinedly set himself to look to God.

2.  He proclaimed a fast for the whole nation.

3.  He began to pray and led all of the people in prayer.

4.  He reminded God of His greatness and power.

5.  He remembered God's help and deliverance in the past.

When you are faced with a giant problem you can also do and say what King Jehosphaphat did in verse 12:  "We have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; and we do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you."
